Irving struggles poorly as the nets drop to 2-6

Kyrie Irving went goalless during three quarters amid a turbulent day for the Brooklyn Nets after parting with coach Steve Nash as he fell to the Chicago Bulls 99-108.

Irving finished with four points – his lowest ever with the net – in 2 of 12 shots from the field with six rebounds and seven assists in 32 minutes on Wednesday (all times EST) in a forgotten performance.

The star goalkeeper, who has averaged 30 points per game this season, didn’t even finish the first half on the field due to playing the net well.

This is just 100 percent pressure. “Sports are hard to play and when you’re under pressure it affects your game,” NBA TNT legend Charles Barkley said in the first half.

“Everyone is looking for you and talking about you..you can tell because it’s not aggressive.”

Asked if Irving was distracted by the day’s events, interim Nets coach Jack Vaughn said: “I told the guys there are no excuses. Whether it’s going back, no excuses. Whether it’s the changing scene today, no excuses. That’s what we do. It’s for a living, what we scored. It was match day so we have to attend it.”

Irving has scrutinized the fallout from Nash’s departure as the team’s 2-5 start was marred by off-field drama including the star goalkeeper’s social media promotion of an anti-Semitic film.

On Sunday, Irving disagreed with a reporter who noted that the star guard was promoting the film during a heated press conference.

Barkley said before the Nets’ confrontation with Chicago that he believed the NBA should have stopped Irving, while fellow senior Shaquille O’Neal called Irving an “idiot.”

“I think he should have been stopped,” Barkley said. “I think the NBA got it wrong.”

“We have suspended and fined people for committing anti-gay insults, and it was the right thing to do, as if you were insulting the black community, you would be suspended.”

Chicago’s Zach Lavigne exploded with 20 out of 29 points for fourth as the Bulls beat the Nets 31-19 to rally home for the win.

Durant scored 32 points for Brooklyn and Royce O’Neill equaled a career high of 20 points.

The Nets dropped to 2-6 to continue their disastrous start to the season, and the entirety of Ben Simmons was missing out with a knee problem.

GIDDEY SHINES IN BACK

Josh Gedi hasn’t missed a beat on his comeback from a three-game absence with an ankle injury.

The Australian has five points and six assists while the Oklahoma City Thunder trails the Orlando Magic 63-66.

He was able to do all his usual tricks including attacking the edge with more force and preparing his teammates with nice passes.

Through three games, Jedi averaged 14.3 points, 1.3 three-pointers, 8.3 rebounds, five assists and one block.
