CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – The Novant Health Thanksgiving Parade returns to light the night on Tryon Street in Charlotte again this year.

The show will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Eve, November 23. WBTV is the media sponsor of the show again and the show will be broadcast live at 6pm

More than 100,000 people queued on Tryon Street for the 2021 parade, and officials hope to make the 2022 parade even bigger.

The 2021 Thanksgiving Eve parade was a success, with 100,000 people lining up on Tryon Street to enjoy the nightly festivities. The 2022 Parade will continue this tradition and kick off the holiday season in style.

The Luminous Fantasy Thanksgiving Day Parade lit up the night with magic, shopping, food and creativity.

“Meeting in person for the holidays is something many of us have been anticipating for over a year,” said Jesse Correton, executive vice president and head of consumer division at Novant Health, in a statement. “As we prepare to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the Novant Health Thanksgiving Parade, I am reminded of the rich history and tradition the parade brings to our community. We are proud to announce that our partnership as Parade Title Sponsor will continue for the next five years and we look forward to kicking off a healthy holiday season!”

The Grand Marshal of the year is Olivia Reardon, representative of the Olivia Strong Foundation.

Olivia’s battle with childhood cancer inspired the Reardon family to create and fund the powerful Olivia Foundation. The Olivia Strong Foundation recently awarded $500,000 to Novant Health Hempey Children’s with a commitment to eradicating childhood cancer and ensuring that children with childhood cancer remain children.

The show will feature local, regional and national talents and performers as well as life-size floats and balloons, bands and dance units.

“This is a great time to celebrate the holidays in Charlotte and we look forward to making new memories for attendees,” said Robert Crompin, Charlotte Center City Partners’ chief creative officer and producer of the show, in a statement. “Celebrating an event for 76 years is no easy feat. The Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade has made Charlotte a destination for Carolinas to meet and kick-start the holiday season for years to come.”

The show is free to watch, and spectators are encouraged to find a spot on Tryon Street between 9th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
