Tony Finau knows what it takes to be a father.

However, Max Homma is in the early stages of being a father.

The duo were teammates in the President’s Cup in September at the Quail Hollow Club, and they have been paired together and won both four-legged matches.

On Tuesday during his pre-tournament press conference ahead of the 2022 Tech World Championships in Mayakoba, Mexico, Finau was asked what advice he should give Homma, whose son Cam was born on Sunday.

“My best parenting advice is to only take care of your wife, that’s all,” said Fino. “The wife runs the house, and the woman runs the world. My mother and my wife are two of the strongest people I know, and are probably the two strongest people I know. My best advice to any husband is to take care of your wife. If Max does that, the kids and family will be fine.”

Homa won’t be playing it this week in the Riviera Maya, but Finau will kick off the PGA Tour season at El Camaleon Golf Course. He’s coming off a successful season that saw him win back-to-back his third and fourth titles, and he built on that during his second appearance in the Presidents Cup, winning 3-1-0 in the American win.

Finau has finished in the top ten twice in six appearances in the event, so he comes with high expectations.

“It’s not a long golf course, but as my driving has improved, it has become a golf course that I think played better and looked better to me,” Finau said. “So I’m looking forward to driving it well this week and hopefully I can score good goals.”

There wasn’t much golf in Finau’s life last month. He said he’s spent a lot of time with his kids between the Presidents Cup and now, and in the past ten or twelve days he’s only picked his clubs back up.

However, he has high expectations for the upcoming season. The goal maker, Finau hasn’t quite made his list yet, but said he will sit down before Thursday and think about what he wants to achieve.

However, one of the goals is to make the 2023 United States Ryder Cup team at Marco Simone in Rome. Finau has achieved the last two teams in the Ryder Cup and has a 3-3-0 record.

“I know for sure right after my head, that being on the Ryder Cup team in Rome would be a goal for me,” Finau said. “It’s something that I think a lot of guys want to be a part of, and I’m included in that. I’d like to be part of this team in Rome, so I think once I’m out the gate, I know that’s something that will be one of my goals.”
