David Bakhtiari Packers set vs Tom Brady, The Pirate

It’s now 21 months since we saw David Bakhtiari at the Green Bay Packers Arena. The All-Pro offensive tackle twice ripped up the AFC Champions League in December of 2020, and it’s been on the shelf ever since. After being forced to sit for the entirety of last season, the 30-year-old now appears close to returning to the much-anticipated action.

Sunday’s week three game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be an excellent opportunity for my pick to come back after nearly two years. At this point, however, his status for Sunday is still up in the air.

Packers Reporter Matt Schneidman The Athletic reports that Bakhtiari has been officially placed as suspect in the Packers’ third game of the season:

It should be noted, however, that Bakhtiari apparently escalated it in practice in recent times. On Friday, the Pro Bowler placed three times on his second consecutive training day this week (via Ryan Wood From USATODAY):

#packers LT David Bakhtiari is practicing today, his second consecutive day in practice. That doesn’t mean he’ll make his 2022 debut on Sunday but… it can’t hurt.

Despite this encouraging development, Packers coach Matt LaFleur isn’t risking any chance of his star O.T. Green Bay looks more comfortable with a slow and steady approach to my choice as he looks to come back from a major injury:

Matt LaFleur said David Bakhtiari will not train 3 days in a row. He also indicated that it would be on a day, a day off, a day. This seems to be more flexible, because it has more than one time. But he did not exercise 3 days in a row.

David Bakhtiari’s chances of suing the Bucs on Sunday don’t look very good. What you can say for sure is that it’s getting close. It won’t be long before Aaron Rodgers gets his best blocker back.
