1.) of pre-screening
To save some time on yourself or someone else queuing at airport security, you can present the gift of TSA PreCheck. Five-year membership costs $85. Currently, over 200 airports and 81 airlines provide TSA PreCheck. According to the TSA website, 94% of TSA PreCheck commuters waited less than five minutes in their PreCheck lines in November 2021. Once membership is gifted, it’s important to note that this is still an online process, as you need to send an online message to apply and select An appointment at one of its registration centers. You will then have to schedule a 10 minute personal appointment, during which your fingerprints will be taken for a background check. But once you’re approved for TSA PreCheck, you can enjoy the perks of no longer having to take off your shoes, laptops, fluids, belts, or light jackets while going through security.
2.) Global Entry
If you’re a traveler who likes to go abroad or if you know someone is going to an international destination, Global Entry not only provides TSA PreCheck benefits, including access to Express Entry benefits in other countries, but will also expedite the U.S. Customs check process from International destinations when you return to US airports. Five-year membership costs $100. After you apply online and pay the fee, US Customs and Border Protection will accept your completed application, review it, and then you should schedule an interview at the Global Enrollment Center. To meet you, be sure to bring your passport and another form of identification such as a driver’s license or ID card.
Another way to get past the security line faster is through CLEAR, a private biometric screening company. The cost of the CLEAR gift is $15 per month (paid annually). Now, however, there is a promotion for $179 for 12 months. Although it is more expensive than TSA PreCheck, it allows you to skip that line. You still have to go through security like everyone else but the difference is that CLEAR will use your fingerprint and eye scan to verify your identity and once you pass its separate line, you will be escorted by one of its employees to security. As of now, CLEAR boasts a presence at more than 50 airports, stadiums, and other venues nationwide. You can register online and then finish the process at an airport with CLEAR without an appointment. Just bring your government ID.
4.) EXPANDABLE ROAM
When you have a lot to bring with you when traveling or if you know someone who can’t pack a light, there is luggage that can hold up to 121 liters (about 32 gallons or 4.2 cubic feet). The Expedition Expandable is expanded by ROAM with a height of 30 inches, a width of 19.5 inches, and a depth of 13 inches. It has a hard polycarbonate shell, a water-resistant fabric lining, and a handle that comes with four different height settings. This piece comes in six different colors and is fully customizable. So you can choose the front shell color different from the back shell color, and differ in trim color and monogram. It costs $650, and it comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
5.) Vaccine card holder
If you have been vaccinated, you will need to have your vaccination card – wherever you go next year. For this reason, it is not a good idea to have a passport-like holder for your vaccine card to ensure you don’t lose it on the go. While there are many different options on the market, the one that really stands out is the $9.99 option from Walmart. Not only does it have a separate clear space for your vaccine card, but it can also hold your passport, credit cards, airline ticket, and a pen and contains RFID blocking material. This is what you may not know you need. Information theft may occur through RFID chips, and this holder has blocking technology to block 13.56MHz (or higher) RFID signals. The blocking technology can then protect your information from unauthorized scans.
Another option to make sure you don’t really lose your vaccine card is Cala’s “Vax Card Tee” which has a clear chest pocket where you can proudly display your vaccine…or just know where it is without digging through your pockets and wallet. The shirt will cost you $38. Just don’t forget to take your card out of the pocket before washing it!
So if you’re still undecided about this year’s gift, you might want to consider some options to make your travel experience less stressful. Happy Holidays and may the New Year bring us safe and easy travels!
