Softball trips to Birmingham to open the fall fair slate

Auburn, Ala – Hitting the road for the first of five consecutive weekends of show competition, Auburn softball opened the fall roster on Sunday with a pair of games against Pensacola State College and UAB in Birmingham.

“We are excited to get a taste of the competition this weekend,” said the coach. Mickey Din. “We have many new faces in the team, and falling is always an excellent opportunity to see their reaction during match situations. This weekend will be a great barometer for where we are in pre-season preparations. It also allows us to be on the road to create team harmony.”

Auburn opens a double header against Pensacola State at 3:30 p.m. CT before facing the Blazers at 6 p.m. CT. Both competitions will take place on the UAB campus in Mary Bowers. All eight Auburn Fall Fair slate competitions will be held on the road due to ongoing renovations at Jane B. Moore Field.

The tigers are led by a veteran group made up of the elderly Lindsey GarciaAnd the Carly McCondychi And the Maya Angelix along with Aspen Goodwin, which is returning for its fifth season on the Plains after opting to use its additional season of eligibility granted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Named the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Freshman of the Year, Ellis has gripped the league hard with her strength on the board, hitting 20 home runs and a new program record. Ellis, who finished 10th in the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I Finals, led the team with 15 multiple games for the RBI, leading a total of 49 innings during her debut season.
