Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic plans achieve the highest quality ratings in the country

Rockville, Maryland – (work wire) – Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic has been ranked among the best-rated health plans in the country according to the National Commission for Quality Assurance (NCQA) report for health plan ratings for 2022. The health system’s Mid-Atlantic region is the only one in the country to receive a rating of 5 from 5-star origin for its Medicare, Medicare, and commercial health plans from the NCQA. Only three other Medicare plans have received this rating nationwide.

In total, only six plans nationwide have 5-star ratings with three of them from the Mid-Atlantic region of Kaiser Permanente. In addition, no commercial or Medicaid plan received a 5 out of 5 in 2022 and Kaiser Permanente is one of only four Medicare plans to receive this rating nationwide.

The NCQA evaluates and ranks more than 1,000 health systems and plans nationwide based on 60 quality metrics that include patient care, treatment, prevention, and patient experience. Nationally, this is the seventh consecutive cycle in which Kaiser Permanente Medicare plans are the highest rated (or restricted) in each area offered, according to the NCQA’s 2022 Health Insurance Plan Ratings.

The annual report of the National Quality Assurance Authority rates plans on a scale of 0 to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Only six plans received a 5-star rating in 2022—three of those plans belong to Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States. For the second year in a row, Kaiser Permanente’s Mid-Atlantic is the only health plan in the country with a 5-star rating across Business, Medicare, and Medicare.
