news: Shippers QB Justin Herbert and WR Keenan Allen are listed as limited in practice on Wednesday.
What does it mean in fiction: Herbert has fractured a rib cartilage and is experiencing a daily fracture, according to head coach Brandon Staley. Herbert participated in individual training while Chase Daniels took first-team reps to team practice. Allen missed week two with a hamstring injury and was also involved in individual workouts. According to Staley, Herbert’s playing position will depend on it. It would be wise for fantasy managers to have a contingency plan. Carson Wentz, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Jared Goff are three directors of streaming options that Herbert on their roster should consider. Allen will probably play, but it’s important to have a backup plan as well. Treylon Burks, Noah Brown and Sterling Shepard are free agents that you can add to your watch list.
news: Colts WR Michael Bateman Jr (quad) and WR Alec Pierce (concussion) are back in training Wednesday.
What does it mean in fiction: Matt Ryan was doing a happy dance in his head. Without his two biggest receivers against the Jaguar on Sunday, he had an imaginary 1.8 points. Pittman could be considered a low-end WR1 against The Chiefs this week after scoring 27.1 fantasy points again in Week 1. Pierce shouldn’t be on anyone’s fantasy radar in Week 3.
news: ESPN’s Nick Wagner reported that George Keitel marched Wednesday on a limited basis.
What does it mean in fiction: Kittel’s chances are improving by playing against the Broncos on Sunday night as he recovers from a thigh injury. Kittle averaged an impressive 13.5 points in 41 career games with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo under center.
news: ESPN’s Adam Shifter reports that the NFL has endorsed a one-game suspension for Buccaneers WR Mike Evans.
What does it mean in fiction: Fantasia directors are now awaiting updates on the condition of Chris Goodwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee). It was recently reported that Cole Beasley was added to the coaching staff as a way for the team to add depth behind Russell Gage, Prishad Berryman and others. Fantasy managers in 12 teams or deeper leagues should have Gage and Perriman on their radar. The two can be viewed as flexible options while Tom Brady is more of a QB2.
news: Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official website reports that RB James Conner still has an ankle injury.
What does it mean in fiction: Conner was seen training Wednesday. While his involvement is likely to be limited, he appears to be on track to play in Week 3. Conner has a significant history of ankle problems. If he’s wasting time, Eno Benjamin and Daryl Williams will put together a commission in Week 3.
news: Ravens RB JK Dobbins trained in full Wednesday.
What does it mean in fiction: Despite training fully last week, Dobbins was inactive for the Ravens’ second straight game. He’s been eager to get back on the field since he ruptured his ACL last summer. He said his LCL muscles, hamstrings, and meniscus were all affected. With Dobbins injured, it makes sense that the team would be very cautious. There’s a good chance he’ll make his regular season debut against the Patriots, but he’s unlikely to have a major role in his first game.
news: Cardinals WR Rondale Moore stays up day in and day out after not practicing on Wednesday.
What does it mean in fiction: This was confirmed by coach Cliff Kingsbury. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler mentioned over the weekend that Moore might be out for a few more weeks due to a hamstring strain. In his absence, Greg Dorch will continue to fill the void and stay on the radars of imagination. Dortch has been the most consistent offensive contributor to date. With two games in, he averages 6.5 goals and an imaginary 14.4 points, and should see favorable coverage in Week 3 against the Rams because Marquez Brown will be fighting cornerback Galen Ramsey.
news: Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy did not train on Wednesday.
What does it mean in fiction: Jody injured his shoulder during Sunday’s game against Texas. Kendall Hinton may be promoted from the coaching staff if Jody does not play on Sunday. KJ Hamler, who was limited in Wednesday training, should be on your fantasy radar. Humler looks set to return to the line-up against the 49ers on Sunday night after missing his second week with a knee/hip injury. It is available in 97% of ESPN consortia.
news: Athletic’s Tachan Reed reports that the WR Raiders Hunter Renfrew did not train Wednesday.
What does it mean in fiction: Renfrew suffered a concussion during his week two game against the Cardinals. Mac Hollins will take his place in the starting lineup if he can’t play against the Titans in Week Three. Hollins had eight goals last week, and if Renfrew goes out, he could repeat that against the Titans.
