‘How long can he do that?’: Celtics legend raises doubts about LeBron James that unsettling Lakers fans

The Los Angeles Lakers have been touted as the favorites for the championship after acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards last season. After all, a team consisting of LeBron James, Westbrook, and Anthony Davis is expected to fight for the title.

However, the team struggled all season. Hence, they failed to make the playoffs. This prompted fans to put pressure on the team for a major overhaul this season. Coach Frank Vogel was fired and two new faces were brought in.

Furthermore, LeBron also signed a new deal with the franchise. While many consider LeBron to be as important to the team as last season, one of James’ arch rivals doesn’t.

He is none other than Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce. He raised doubts about LeBron considering the age of the four-time NBA champion. Pierce said,For one, LeBron is a year older. Yes, he averaged 30, but how long can he do that?

Pierce and LeBron have had a heated rivalry with each other since LeBron’s early days in the league. They had many memorable matches against each other.

However, Pierce once asserted that the rivalry is limited to the court only. LeBron and Pierce didn’t share any bad blood off the field, and The Truth made it clear that the rivalry only existed because both players had similar ambitions.

How good was LeBron James last season?

Four-time NBA champion LeBron James was the silver medal for the lackluster Los Angeles Lakers during the 2021-22 season. The 37-year-old struggled with injuries to help his team.

He averaged 30.3 points, 6.2 assists, and 8.2 rebounds during the season. Despite all the efforts of LeBron and his teammates, the team failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Although the team failed to achieve anything, James set a very important personal record. He overtook Karl Malone to become the second-highest scorer in NBA history. LeBron is only behind Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and is expected to surpass Kareem soon.
